John Hadden is embarking on his third season directing and teaching with We Players, co-directing and playing Macbeth and co-directing several works in the Presenting Series. He is the artistic director of the Hubbard Hall Theater Company which lives in a 1879 opera house in Cambridge, NY. Plays he has directed there include Hadrian VII, The Madwoman of Chaillot, The Night of the Iguana, Macbeth and Ondine; he played Salieri in Amadeus and is gearing up for King Lear (with his favorite collaborator Ava Roy). He is a founding member of Shakespeare & Co and he was the co-founder and artistic director of Counterpoint Theater in Boston. He has a playwriting MFA from Goddard College; his plays and films have won awards and have been seen in NYC at LaMaMa ETC, PS 122 and the Ensemble Studio Theater, etc. He has worked as a theater-maker consistently here and abroad for 40 years, often teaching at universities and schools. In Vermont he is a juried teaching artist (VT Arts Council), teaching playwriting and exploring literature out loud and on its feet.
